Prueben y vean que el Señor es bueno;
dichosos los que en El se refugian. Salmos 34:8. / Taste
and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes
refuge in Him. Psalms 34:8
“Estamos llegando
al lugar donde se preparan los más deliciosos helados del mundo", dijo mi
colega mientras descendíamos de Latacunga para Salcedo. Ya era tarde y hacía
frío en aquella ciudad ecuatoriana localizada a más de dos mil metros sobre el
nivel del mar. / “We are arriving at the place where the most
delicious ice creams in the world are prepared,” said my colleague as we
descended from Latacunga to Salcedo. It was already late and cold in that
Ecuadorian city located more than two thousand meters above sea level.
Los helados de
Salcedo no son famosos mundialmente, pero ciertamente son los más deliciosos.
Preparados artesanalmente por unas pocas familias, la receta es un secreto
heredado de una monja italiana que llegó a aquella ciudad en el siglo XIX. / Salcedo ice creams are not
world famous, but they are certainly the most delicious. Prepared by hand by a
few families, the recipe is a secret inherited from an Italian nun who arrived
in that city in the 19th century.
"Todo es
cuestión de gusto", me dijo un colega cuando un día me oyó hablar con
mucho entusiasmo de esta exquisitez andina. Puede ser, pero tú nunca tendrás
una opinión formada de algo que nunca probaste. / "It's all a matter of
taste," a colleague told me when one day he heard me talk with great
enthusiasm about this Andean delicacy. Maybe, but you will never have an
opinion about something you have never tried.
Cuando Dios
dice en el versículo de hoy: "Prueben y vean que el Señor es bueno", está hablando con mucho entusiasmo de algo que funcionó en
su experiencia. Perseguido por Saúl y huyendo de los filisteos, el joven rey se
escondió un día en la cueva de Adulam. Cuando el dolor es extremo y las
adversidades envuelven la vida, la tendencia humana es huir y esconderse. David no era diferente a cualquier
otra criatura. / When God says in today's verse, "Taste
and see that the Lord is good," He is talking very enthusiastically about
something that worked in his experience. Pursued by Saul and fleeing from the
Philistines, the young king hid one day in the cave of Adullam. When pain is
extreme and adversity surrounds life, the human tendency is to flee and hide. David was no different than any other creature.
En aquella
cueva; David pasó semanas. Lloró, suplicó, clamó. No entendía la causa de su
sufrimiento. ¿Acaso Dios no lo había colocado como sucesor del trono? Era un
rey sin corona, sin autoridad, perseguido y sin honra alguna. / In that cave; David spent
weeks. He cried, he pleaded, he cried out. He did not understand the cause of
his suffering. Hadn't God placed him as successor to the throne? He was a king
without a crown, without authority, persecuted and without any honor.
En la lucha
solitaria con sus temores, David descubrió que su peor enemigo no era Saúl. Era
el miedo que lo paralizaba. Si tú no eres capaz de confiar en el plan de Dios
para tu vida, ¿quién lo hará? El rey sin trono abrió el corazón a Dios,
reconoció sus temores, se puso en las manos del Todopoderoso, y el milagro
sucedió. Desde aquella inmunda caverna, David salió dispuesto a enfrentar, en
nombre de Dios, todas las dificultades que se le presentaran por delante. / In the lonely struggle with his
fears, David discovered that his worst enemy was not Saul. It was the fear that
paralyzed him. If you are not able to trust God's plan for your life, who will?
The king without a throne opened his heart to God, recognized his fears, placed
himself in the hands of the Almighty, and the miracle happened. From that
filthy cave, David came out ready to face, in the name of God, all the
difficulties that lay ahead.
¿Cuáles son
tus temores? ¿De quién estás huyendo? Esconderte no es la solución. Si tú
huyes, huirás toda la vida. Nadie es capaz de derrotar al siervo humilde que
confiesa sus temores y recibe el poder de Aquel que lo llamó a una vida
victoriosa. / What
are your fears? Who are you running from? Hiding is not the solution. If you
run away, you will run away for the rest of your life. No one is able to defeat
the humble servant who confesses his fears and receives the power of the One
who called him to a victorious life.
Hoy es el día. Sal de la cueva. Muéstrate. Afuera brilla el sol en
todo su esplendor. No permitas que el desánimo te domine, o no reclames aquello
que tú permites. Escucha la voz de David: "Prueben y vean que
el Señor es bueno; dichosos los que en El se refugian". / Today is the day. Get out of
the cave. Show yourself. Outside the sun shines in all its splendor. Do not
allow discouragement to dominate you, or do not claim what you allow. Listen to
the voice of David: " Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed
is the one who takes refuge in Him."
