A finales de mayo del 2016 nos mudamos mi hijo y yo a un apartamento solos. Mi mamá se mudó con otro hijo que vive en la misma ciudad. Ha sido duro para mí mamá y para mí tener que vivir por aparte, después de 2 años en que vivimos juntos y ella fue un gran apoyo emocional usada por Dios para levantarme luego de la separación y divorcio de mi Ex esposa. Mi hijo y yo pudimos compartir más tiempo juntos de hijo y padre. Romanos 8:28 lo bueno y también lo malo obra para bien.  /   At the end of May 2016, my son and I moved into an apartment alone together. My mom moved in with another son who lives in the same city. It has been hard for my mom and me to have to live apart, after 2 years of living together. She was a great emotional support, used by God to lift me up after the separation and divorce from my ex-wife. My son and I were able to share more time together as son and father. Romans 8:28 both good and evil work for good.

Debemos perdonar 70 veces 7 (Mateo 18:15-22). Me reuní con mi ex esposa. Sentí que el terrible sentimiento de odio que tenía se me quitaba. Dios está sanando mi corazón. Ella me propuso regresar juntos. Aunque siento que puede tener razón, no me sentía listo para dar este paso. Pude divorciarme definitivamente de mi esposa. Pero aún la amo. Podría argüir sus errores, o podría darle una segunda oportunidad. Salí con mi ex esposa e hijo. Sentí como el amor renació en mi. Pero seguían doliendo las heridas. Duele mucho recordar lo que nos hicimos mutuamente. Es muy difícil olvidar. Aunque he estado ejercitando la terapia del perdón. Debería doler menos si fuera consciente del dolor que yo también le causé. Pero no entendemos el dolor del otro así no más. Hay que ponerse en sus zapatos.  /   We must forgive 70 times 7 (Matthew 18:15-22). I reunited with my ex-wife. I felt the terrible feeling of hatred I had was gone. God is healing my heart. She proposed to get back together. Although I feel she may be right, I didn't feel ready to take this step. I could have divorced my wife permanently. But I still love her. I could argue her mistakes, or I could give her a second chance. I went out with my ex-wife and son. I felt like love was reborn in me. But the wounds still hurt. It hurts a lot to remember what we did to each other. It's very difficult to forget. Although I've been practicing forgiveness therapy, it should hurt less if I were aware of the pain I also caused her. But we don't understand each other's pain just like that. We have to put ourselves in their shoes.

En cuanto a mi recuperación física continué realizando esfuerzos ingentes por mejorar mi condición física. Inicie tomando un medicamento experimental que había arrojado resultados muy positivos en pacientes sobrevivientes de derrame cerebral. Para aumentar la plasticidad cerebral, es decir que funciones que antes desempeñaban zonas del cerebro que fueron dañadas por el derrame, sean ahora desempeñadas por otras zonas del cerebro que no fueron dañadas. A finales de febrero del año 2017 camino con dificultad usando bastón. Y en este momento he dejado de lado mi recuperación física por atender con más esmero a AuroraTech.   /   As for my physical recovery, I continued to make tremendous efforts to improve my physical condition. I began taking an experimental medication that had shown very positive results in stroke survivors. It was designed to increase brain plasticity, meaning that functions previously performed by areas of the brain damaged by the stroke were now performed by other areas of the brain that were not damaged. As of late February 2017, I was walking with difficulty using a cane. At this time, I have put my physical recovery on hold to focus more on AuroraTech.

En Colombia atravesamos durante esta época de una fuerte polémica por el acuerdo de paz entre el gobierno y las FARC. Comparto ahora la reflexión de la periodista Claudia Palacios: Como perdonar lo imperdonable? Proceso de paz en Colombia   /   In Colombia, we are currently experiencing a heated debate over the peace agreement between the government and the FARC. I now share journalist Claudia Palacios' reflection: How can we forgive the unforgivable? The peace process in Colombia

1. No somos una Colombia sino muchas. Cuales son esas otras Colombias que no conocemos?   /   We are not one Colombia, but many. What are these other Colombias we don't know about?

2. Falta autocrítica. Los lideres se preocupan en cómo va a quedar su nombre en la historia.   /   There's a lack of self-criticism. Leaders worry about how their name will go down in history.

3. Debemos conocer la historia, no para justificarla sino para entenderla. Que nos falta para entender de lo injustificable?   /   We must know history, not to justify it, but to understand it. What are we missing to understand the unjustifiable?

4. Los medios de comunicación están chiveados con la paz. No se han reportado todas las noticias de paz, tan solo las noticias trágicas, pero no la resiliencia de las víctimas. Lo que pensamos del conflicto en Colombia es el resultado de los medios de comunicación ó por parte de nuestros propios sentidos? Debemos ser responsables en cómo construimos nuestra visión.   /   The media is screwed with peace. Not all the news about peace has been reported, only the tragic news, but not the resilience of the victims. Is what we think about the conflict in Colombia the result of the media or our own senses? We must be responsible in how we construct our vision.

5. Hay muchos desacuerdos y acuerdos sobre el perdón y la reconciliación. El perdón es una decisión personal. Requiere acompañamiento. El perdón es un regalo que se hace a sí misma la víctima. Cómo incorporamos las diferentes visiones del perdón en nuestro aporte para la paz?   /   There are many disagreements and agreements regarding forgiveness and reconciliation. Forgiveness is a personal decision. It requires support. Forgiveness is a gift the victim gives to themselves. How do we incorporate different visions of forgiveness into our contribution to peace?

6. No es suficiente con ser un buen ciudadano. Hay que ser excepcional. Construir paz desde el rol que cada uno tiene.   /   It's not enough to be a good citizen. You have to be exceptional. Building peace from the role each of us plays.

Debo decir que la infraestructura de comunicaciones de mi Universidad en Valencia (España) es la mejor que tenido oportunidad de experimentar. Aquellas tareas de procesamiento digital que me tomaban un par de horas en Colombia, en Valencia las podía realizar en unos pocos minutos. Los días anteriores a la defensa de mi tesis ante el tribunal, recuerdo que casi no pude dormir. La defensa resultó ser todo un éxito, y pude descansar un poco.  Mis directores nos invitaron junto con el tribunal una deliciosa comida. La tradición exige que sea el estudiante quien realice dicha invitación, pero yo agradecí dicho gesto ya que mi desplazamiento a Valencia lo había realizado con recursos propios, debido a la dura situación financiera que se encontraba pasando la empresa para la que trabajaba en ese momento.  /   I must say that the communications infrastructure at my university in Valencia, Spain, is the best I've ever experienced. Digital processing tasks that used to take me a couple of hours in Colombia could be completed in a few minutes in Valencia. I remember barely sleeping a few days before my thesis defense before the panel. The defense was a complete success, and I was able to get some rest. My supervisors invited me and the panel to a delicious meal. Tradition dictates that the student extend this invitation, but I appreciated the gesture since I had traveled to Valencia at my own expense, due to the difficult financial situation the company I was working for at the time was facing.

A mi regreso a Colombia recibí la bienvenida de mi hijo y mi mamá, quienes festejaron conmigo dicho paso. Incluso mi ex esposa me felicitó, ya que ella había sido testigo del gran milagro que significaba al haber concluido este doctorado luego de la ocurrencia el 28 de febrero del 2008 de mi derrame cerebral.  /   Upon my return to Colombia, I was welcomed by my son and my mother, who celebrated this milestone with me. Even my ex-wife congratulated me, as she had witnessed the miracle of completing this doctorate after my stroke on February 28, 2008.

Continué trabajando en las noches en mi Emprendimiento, AuroraTech, que para este momento se centraba solamente en las Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas PYMES, y en los Emprendedores, ofreciendo servicios de Marketing Digital y Video Marketing. Configuraba campañas en Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google AdWords, y otros para Emprendedores del Medio Oriente y Africa (Nigeria, Sudáfrica, Marruecos, etc.). Esto me permitió llegar a esta audiencia tan lejana geográficamente, pero tan cercana a mi corazón.   /   I continued working nights on my startup, AuroraTech, which at the time focused solely on small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and entrepreneurs, offering digital marketing and video marketing services. I set up campaigns on Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google AdWords, and other platforms for entrepreneurs in the Middle East and Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, etc.). This allowed me to reach this audience, so geographically distant but so close to my heart.

A mediados de abril del 2016 estuve en la ciudad de Cartagena, desarrollando un trabajo en Gerenciamiento de Alarmas, y tuve que poner a punto la plataforma informatica con la que los diferentes involucrados podríamos compartir información, y de manera colaborativa construir las decisiones que debíamos tomar con respecto a las alarmas de las plantas industriales. Todos estaban muy ocupados: Operaciones, Control, Proceso, pero hay tareas con respecto a las alarmas, que son inaplazables, y que tienen que ver con Seguridad de Proceso, el motor que me ha impulsado a continuar con este trabajo (vidas de las personas, impacto ambiental, y perdidas económicas).   /   In mid-April 2016, I was in Cartagena, working on Alarm Management, and I had to set up the IT platform that would allow the various stakeholders to share information and collaboratively develop the decisions we needed to make regarding alarms at industrial plants. Everyone was very busy: Operations, Control, and Process. However, there were tasks related to alarms that couldn't be postponed and that had to do with Process Safety, the driving force that has driven me to continue with this work (people's lives, environmental impact, and economic losses).

Por la misma fecha hice algo de lo que me siento especialmente orgulloso: Envié dinero a Pakistan y Ecuador, para ayudar luego de terremotos que sufrieron esas regiones del mundo. Solo que esto se convirtió después, en el caso de Pakistán, en un caso que me enseñó que es mejor enseñar a pescar, que regalar un pescado (Génesis 3:19). Las personas no quieren salir de su zona de Comfort. Por mas que se les brindan nuevas oportunidades de salir de su precaria situación, les cuesta mucho entender en que consiste el Emprendimiento. Procastrinan. Dilatan sus decisiones. Asignan la culpa de su situación, o de no conquistar sus sueños, a los demás, pero no asumen la responsabilidad de construir algo mejor para sus vidas.   /   Around the same time, I did something I'm especially proud of: I sent money to Pakistan and Ecuador to help after the earthquakes those regions suffered. However, this later became, in the case of Pakistan, a case that taught me that it's better to teach someone how to fish than to give them a fish (Genesis 3:19). People don't want to leave their comfort zone. Even when they're offered new opportunities to escape their precarious situation, they have a hard time understanding what entrepreneurship is all about. They procrastinate. They delay their decisions. They blame others for their situation, or for not achieving their dreams, but they don't take responsibility for building something better for their lives.

No hay nadie más pobre que quien no tiene un sueño.  Yo tengo un sueño:  Que TODO EL MUNDO hable de la gracia y la misericordia de Dios.  En 2 Timoteo 1:6-7 dice: “Por lo cual te aconsejo que avives el fuego del don de Dios que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos. Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.”  Dios nos dio unos dones, unas capacidades, y hay que ponerlas a trabajar.  Necesito de tu ayuda para cumplir este sueño.  Si cada uno de nosotros se compromete a que por lo menos 1.000 personas inscriban sus correos electrónicos aquí:  /   There is no one poorer than he who does not have a dream. y lea y medite en las reflexiones, seremos algunos reflexionando sobre la búsqueda de Dios. Dios nos dijo, a través del apóstol Pablo, que debíamos ser luz para el mundo: “para que seáis irreprensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin mancha en medio de una generación maligna y perversa, en medio de la cual resplandecéis como luminares en el mundo;” (Filipenses 2:15). Mi sueño es que podamos formar una comunidad de práctica sobre la búsqueda de Dios, donde trabajemos en equipo y encontremos valor en aprender juntos, capitalizando las experiencias para el mejoramiento permanente.  Nos debe unir la pasión y el interés por la búsqueda de Dios.  Debemos estar conectados, no tan sólo juntos, compartiendo las lecciones aprendidas durante la búsqueda, las historias de éxito, y nuestras necesidades también. Reenvíen este testimonio y las reflexiones a todos sus contactos, para así tocar muchas vidas (Salmos 105:1). HAY QUE GANAR GENTE PARA DIOS POR AMOR Y NO POR TEMOR. La ley de la tenencia progresiva dice que para poder tener más, debo tener algo, un sueño, una meta (Mateo 25:14-29). Para que esto se haga evidente en nuestras vidas, hay unos principios que hay que manejar: Debemos tener bien claro Quien es el dueño de todo, y quien el administrador (1 Crónicas 29:9-12), la ley de la mayordomía; el principio de la ley del uso (que dice que debemos poner a funcionar el talento que Dios nos ha dado, la práctica hace al maestro); la ley de la fidelidad (la fidelidad a Dios nos trae prosperidad y bendición); la ley de la revelación (Lucas 24:45), debemos entender a Quien servimos.  /   and read and meditate on the reflections, some of us will reflect on the search for God. God told us, through the apostle Paul, that we should be a light to the world: “that you may be blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15). My dream is that we can form a community of practice on the search for God, where we work as a team and find value in learning together, capitalizing on experiences for permanent improvement. We should be united by a passion and interest in the search for God. We should be connected, not just together, sharing the lessons learned during the search, the success stories, and our needs as well. Forward this testimony and the reflections to all your contacts, in order to touch many lives (Psalm 105:1). WE MUST WIN PEOPLE FOR GOD THROUGH LOVE AND NOT THROUGH FEAR.  The law of progressive tenure says that in order to have more, I must have something, a dream, a goal (Matthew 25:14-29). For this to become evident in our lives, there are some principles we must master: We must be clear about Who owns everything, and who is the administrator (1 Chronicles 29:9-12); the law of stewardship; the principle of the law of use (which says we must put to use the talent God has given us; practice makes perfect); the law of fidelity (faithfulness to God brings us prosperity and blessing); the law of revelation (Luke 24:45); we must understand Who we serve.

Los cristianos dicen “nosotros somos cristianos, entonces sí somos salvos”, los católicos dicen “nosotros somos católicos, entonces sí somos salvos”, los musulmanes dicen “nosotros somos musulmanes,  entonces sí nos podemos relacionar con Dios”.  Nosotros como seres humanos siempre pensando en lo que nos separa antes de lo que nos une.  Nos une que adoramos al mismo Dios.  Dios es Uno sólo (Deuteronomio 6:4-5; Santiago 2:19; Romanos 3:30; 1 Corintios 8:6; 1 Timoteo 2:5), y es el mismo, para cristianos, para católicos, para musulmanes, para todo el mundo.  Y es cierto que hay que reunirse con cristianos, con católicos, o con musulmanes, para recibir la palabra de Dios, que es el alimento espiritual, el combustible que mueve nuestro vehículo interno, pero más allá de las religiones, lo que Dios quiere es tener una relación personal con cada uno de nosotros, y lo que debemos hacer es buscarlo.   /   Christians say, “We are Christians, so we are saved.” Catholics say, “We are Catholics, so we are saved.” Muslims say, “We are Muslims, so we can relate to God.” As human beings, we always think about what separates us before what unites us. What unites us is that we worship the same God. God is One (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; James 2:19; Romans 3:30; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5), and He is the same for Christians, for Catholics, for Muslims, for everyone. And it is true that we must meet with Christians, with Catholics, or with Muslims, to receive the word of God, which is spiritual nourishment, the fuel that moves our internal vehicle. But beyond religions, what God wants is to have a personal relationship with each one of us, and what we must do is seek Him.

Por qué no debemos dejar de buscar a Dios?  En 1 Pedro 5:8-9 dice:  “Sed sobrios, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el diablo, como león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando a quien devorar; al cual resistid firmes en la fe, sabiendo que los mismos padecimientos se van cumpliendo en vuestros hermanos en todo el mundo.”  Tenemos un adversario que está como león rugiente buscando a quien devorar.  En Proverbios 8:17-18 dice: “Yo amo a los que me aman, Y me hallan los que temprano me buscan.  Las riquezas y la honra están conmigo; Riquezas duraderas, y justicia.”   En el Salmo 105:4 dice: “Buscad a Dios y su poder; Buscad siempre Su rostro.”  En Santiago 4:7-10 dice: “Someteos, pues, a Dios; resistid al diablo, y huirá de vosotros.  Acercaos a Dios, y El se acercará a vosotros. Pecadores, limpiad las manos; y vosotros los de doble ánimo, purificad vuestros corazones.  Afligíos, y lamentad, y llorad. Vuestra risa se convierta en lloro, y vuestro gozo en tristeza.  Humillaos delante del Señor, y El os exaltará.“  Si queremos a Dios más cerca, hay que buscarlo.  Nosotros somos los más privilegiados al buscarlo.   /   Why should we never stop seeking God? 1 Peter 5:8-9 says, “Be sober-minded, be vigilant, for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are being accomplished by your brothers who are in the world.” We have an adversary who is like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. Proverbs 8:17-18 says, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness.” Psalm 105:4 says, “Seek God and his strength; seek his face continually.”  James 4:7-10 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be afflicted, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up.” If we want God closer, we must seek Him. We are the most privileged to seek Him.

Reflexión 2025-06-13 NO SIGAMOS SIENDO BONSAIS -LET'S NOT CONTINUE BEING BONSAI

En Isaías 54:1-17 dice: “Regocíjate, oh estéril, la que no daba a luz; levanta canción y da voces de júbilo, la que nunca estuvo de parto; porque más son los hijos de la desamparada que los de la casada, ha dicho Dios.  Ensancha el sitio de tu tienda, y las cortinas de tus habitaciones sean extendidas; no seas escasa; alarga tus cuerdas, y refuerza tus estacas.  Porque te extenderás a la mano derecha y a la mano izquierda; y tu descendencia heredará naciones, y habitará las ciudades asoladas.  No temas, pues no serás confundida; y no te avergüences, porque no serás afrentada, sino que te olvidarás de la vergüenza de tu juventud, y de la afrenta de tu viudez no tendrás más memoria.  Porque tu marido es tu Hacedor; Dios de los ejércitos es Su nombre; y tu Redentor, el Santo de Israel; Dios de toda la tierra será llamado.  Porque como a mujer abandonada y triste de espíritu te llamó Dios, y como a la esposa de la juventud que es repudiada, dijo el Dios tuyo.  Por un breve momento te abandoné, pero te recogeré con grandes misericordias.  Con un poco de ira escondí mi rostro de ti por un momento; pero con misericordia eterna tendré compasión de ti, dijo Dios tu Redentor.  Porque esto me será como en los días de Noé, cuando juré que nunca más las aguas de Noé pasarían sobre la tierra; así he jurado que no me enojaré contra ti, ni te reñiré.  Porque los montes se moverán, y los collados temblarán, pero no se apartará de ti mi misericordia, ni el pacto de mi paz se quebrantará, dijo Dios, el que tiene misericordia de ti.  Pobrecita, fatigada con tempestad, sin consuelo; he aquí que yo cimentaré tus piedras sobre carbunclo, y sobre zafiros te fundaré.  Tus ventanas pondré de piedras preciosas, tus puertas de piedras de carbunclo, y toda tu muralla de piedras preciosas.  Y todos tus hijos serán enseñados por Dios; y se multiplicará la paz de tus hijos.  Con justicia serás adornada; estarás lejos de opresión, porque no temerás, y de temor, porque no se acercará a ti.  Si alguno conspirare contra ti, lo hará sin mí; el que contra ti conspirare, delante de ti caerá.  He aquí que yo hice al herrero que sopla las ascuas en el fuego, y que saca la herramienta para su obra; y yo he creado al destruidor para destruir.  Ninguna arma forjada contra ti prosperará, y condenarás toda lengua que se levante contra ti en juicio. Esta es la herencia de los siervos de Dios, y su salvación de mí vendrá, dijo Dios.”   /   Isaiah 54:1-17 says, “Rejoice, O barren one, who never bore; take up a song and shout for joy, you who never travailed; for the children of the forsaken are more than those of the married woman, says God. Enlarge the place of your tent, and stretch out the curtains of your dwelling places; do not be sparse; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right hand and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations and inhabit the desolate cities. Fear not, for you will not be confounded; and do not be ashamed, for you will not be put to shame, but you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. For your Maker is your Husband; His name is the God of hosts; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth he will be called. For like a woman forsaken  and God called you sorrowful in spirit, like a wife of youth who is cast away, says your God. For a little while I cast you out, but with great compassion I will take you up. In a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you, says God your Redeemer. For this will be to me as in the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again go over the earth. So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you nor rebuke you. For the mountains will be removed and the hills shake, but my lovingkindness will not depart from you, nor the covenant of my peace be removed, says God who has compassion on you. Poor thing, toiled with the tempest, and not comforted; behold, I will lay your stones upon carbuncles, and I will set your foundations upon sapphires. I will make your windows of precious stones, your gates of carbuncles, and all your wall  of precious stones. And all your children will be taught by God, and the peace of your children will be multiplied. You will be adorned with righteousness; you will be far from oppression, for you will not fear, and from dread, for it will not come near you. If anyone conspires against you, it will be without me; he who conspires against you will fall before you. Behold, I have made the smith who blows on the coals in the fire and brings out the tool for his work; and I have created the destroyer to destroy. No weapon formed against you will prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of God, and their salvation will come from me, says God.”

No podemos seguir siendo bonsáis, muy hermosos pero sin frutos.  Dios nos ha llamado a dar muchos frutos.  Las limitaciones están la mayoría de las veces en nuestra mente.  El fruto que debemos dar es llevar a muchos a los pies de Jesús.   /   We can no longer remain bonsai trees, very beautiful but fruitless. God has called us to bear much fruit. Limitations are often in our minds. The fruit we must bear is to bring many to the feet of Jesus.

Todo tiene un precio, ahora lo sé. Y debemos estar dispuestos a pagarlo, si queremos vencer. El precio que debemos pagar por no tener una vida común, es no hacer las cosas de manera común, sino ser excelentes en cada cosa que hacemos. Impregnarle a cada cosa un sello particular, el sello de la excelencia. Me quito el sombrero ante lo que hacemos en el centro de investigación donde trabajé hasta el 31 de diciembre del 2016. Todos de alguna manera estamos siempre vendiendo algo, una idea, nuestro tiempo, nuestro trabajo, pero la gran mayoría de las personas trabajan con un producto ya terminado. Nosotros por el contrario vendíamos un producto que aún está en construcción. Los desarrollos que estábamos realizando son únicos en el mundo, son como nuestros pequeños hijos. Llegué a pensar para mis adentros: “¿quién me mandó a meterme en esta vaca loca? Podría estar muy cómodo trabajando con un producto probado y de trayectoria.” Pero luego pensé: “Las responsabilidades no se eluden, se enfrentan.” Nosotros sabemos muy bien que cada victoria implica nuevos retos, implica sacrificios muchas veces, pero el sabor que deja la victoria en cada uno de ellos, bien vale la pena.   /   Everything has a price, I know that now. And we must be willing to pay it if we want to win. The price we must pay for not having a common life is not doing things in a common way, but being excellent in everything we do. Imparting each thing with a particular seal, the seal of excellence. I take my hat off to what we do at the research center where I worked until December 31, 2016. We are all, in some way, always selling something—an idea, our time, our work—but the vast majority of people work with a finished product. We, on the other hand, were selling a product that is still under construction. The developments we were carrying out are unique in the world; they are like our little children. I even thought to myself: "Who told me to get involved in this crazy cow? I could have been very comfortable working with a proven product with a track record." But then I thought: "Responsibilities are not evaded, they are faced."  We know very well that every victory involves new challenges, often involving sacrifices, but the taste that victory leaves in each of them is well worth it.

¿QUIERES SER GRANDE? Hay que servir (Marcos 10:43-44).  En Salmos 8:4 dice: “¿Qué es el hombre, para que tengas de él memoria, Y el hijo del hombre, para que lo visites?” Y la respuesta es: Somos hijos maravillosos de Dios, si aceptamos la promesa preciosa que Dios nos hizo en Jesús, de hacernos Sus hijos, si aceptábamos a Jesús como nuestro Señor y Salvador.   /   DO YOU WANT TO BE GREAT? You must serve (Mark 10:43-44). Psalm 8:4 says, “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” And the answer is: We are wonderful children of God if we accept the precious promise God made to us in Jesus to make us His children, if we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Debemos ser fuertes y esperar en el Señor (Salmos 31:24). Es la única manera de conquistar nuestros sueños. Debemos elevar nuestro espíritu para conquistar el potencial que Dios quiere de nosotros. Se hace necesario exigirse cada día para desarrollar y fortalecer nuestros talentos y elevar la mirada para ver más allá de lo evidente. Se hace necesario desarrollar una visión que nos encienda y mantenga animados durante toda la vida. Muchas veces en la vida nos sentimos perdidos e incapaces,  pero nada de eso es cierto; se hace necesario pasar por el crisol de la prueba y de la oscuridad, para que logremos aprender la lección que se hace necesaria en cada momento de nuestra existencia.   /   We must be strong and wait on the Lord (Psalm 31:24). It is the only way to conquer our dreams. We must elevate our spirit to conquer the potential that God wants from us. It is necessary to challenge ourselves every day to develop and strengthen our talents and raise our gaze to see beyond the obvious. It is necessary to develop a vision that ignites us and keeps us encouraged throughout our lives. Many times in life we ​​​​feel lost and incapable, but none of that is true; it is necessary to go through the crucible of trials and darkness, so that we can learn the lesson that is necessary at every moment of our existence.

En Mateo 19:21 le dijo Jesús al joven rico: “Si quieres ser perfecto, anda, vende lo que tienes, y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven y sígueme.”  Debemos erradicar todo aquello que nos separa de Dios. Debemos ser auténticos en nuestra relación con Dios.  Debemos cambiar primero lo de adentro, y es Jesús Quien nos ayuda a realizar esta transformación (Mateo 23:26).   /   In Matthew 19:21, Jesus said to the rich young ruler, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.” We must eradicate everything that separates us from God. We must be authentic in our relationship with God. We must first change what is inside, and it is Jesus who helps us achieve this transformation (Matthew 23:26).

Debemos orar y trabajar (Proverbios 14:4). Dios nos dio manos para buscar las oportunidades. La persona que aprende a depender de Dios, crea las oportunidades, no las encuentra por casualidad. Debemos edificar nuestras vidas.  Para mí hubiera sido muy fácil darme por vencido ante las dificultades que se me presentaron en el doctorado.  Pero Dios me dio la fortaleza y la sabiduría para sortear esas dificultades. En Proverbios 14:1 dice: “La mujer sabia edifica su casa, pero la necia con sus manos la derriba.”  Debemos actuar como la mujer sabia. Debemos edificar nuestras vidas. No podemos ser perezosos.  Que no nos tenga que decir Dios “Perezoso, ¿hasta cuándo has de dormir? ¿Cuándo te levantarás de tu sueño?” (Proverbios 6:9). Las oportunidades no llegan solas, hay que buscarlas, la victoria es la recompensa del trabajo.   /   We must pray and work (Proverbs 14:4). God gave us hands to seek out opportunities. A person who learns to depend on God creates opportunities, not finds them by chance. We must build our lives. It would have been very easy for me to give up in the face of the difficulties I encountered during my doctorate. But God gave me the strength and wisdom to overcome those difficulties. Proverbs 14:1 says, “A wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.” We must act like the wise woman. We must build our lives. We cannot be lazy. May God not have to tell us, “Lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you arise from your slumber?” (Proverbs 6:9). Opportunities do not come alone; we must seek them; victory is the reward of work.

Nosotros somos del tamaño de nuestros sueños. Tuve la gran bendición de asistir a una conferencia dictada por un gran amigo en el centro de investigación donde trabajé hasta diciembre del 2016. La conferencia trataba sobre el cerebro y cómo conquistar los sueños. Una definición de sueño es: “Es un cuadro del futuro que infunde energía a tu mente, voluntad y emociones, facultándote para hacer todo lo que puedas para lograrlo”. Algunas frases dadas durante la conferencia fueron: “El más importante descubrimiento de esta generación es el entendimiento de que los seres humanos pueden alterar sus vidas alterando su actitud mental”. “Todos somos responsables por los pensamientos que albergamos en nuestra mente. Tenemos la capacidad de pensar lo que deseemos. Nuestras actitudes y comportamientos negativos y autodestructivos se han originado en la manera en que hemos elegido pensar”. “Hay dos clases de personas en este mundo: los realistas y los soñadores. Los realistas saben hacia donde van, los soñadores ya han estado allí”. “El éxito: No sucederá a menos que usted decida hacerlo suceder. No es un golpe de suerte. No es un derecho divino. No es un accidente de nacimiento. ¡ES UNA ELECCIÓN! ”.   /   We are the size of our dreams. I had the great blessing of attending a lecture given by a good friend at the research center where I worked until December 2016. The lecture was about the brain and how to conquer dreams. One definition of a dream is: “It is a picture of the future that energizes your mind, will, and emotions, empowering you to do everything you can to achieve it.” Some quotes given during the lecture were: “The most important discovery of this generation is the understanding that human beings can alter their lives by altering their mental attitude.” “We are all responsible for the thoughts we harbor in our minds. We have the ability to think whatever we wish. Our negative and self-destructive attitudes and behaviors originate from the way we have chosen to think.” “There are two kinds of people in this world: realists and dreamers. Realists know where they are going; dreamers have been there.”  “Success: It won’t happen unless you decide to make it happen. It’s not a stroke of luck. It’s not a divine right. It’s not an accident of birth. IT’S A CHOICE!”

Mi amigo planteaba como elemento clave del éxito la práctica intensa, para lo que se necesita ser soñador, tener alta autoestima, tener mentalidad de abundancia, tener carácter, capacidad de crecimiento, decisión, efectividad, entusiasmo, equilibrio, fe, pasión y responsabilidad.   /   My friend suggested that intense practice is a key element for success, which requires being a dreamer, having high self-esteem, an abundance mentality, character, the ability to grow, determination, effectiveness, enthusiasm, balance, faith, passion, and responsibility.

Dios quiere prosperarnos, pero especialmente en lo espiritual (Salmos 1:1-3; Salmos 122:6; 2 Crónicas 20:20; Nehemías 2:20; 3 Juan 1:2), y para ello debemos invertir (Eclesiastés 11:1-2), no solo el dinero, sino también nuestro tiempo, nuestro amor. Pero para prosperar debemos hacer las cosas a la manera de Dios (Josué 1:8). Hay que vivir la vida de acuerdo a los principios divinos. Vivir la vida es aceptarla con sus riesgos y desafíos, es colocar cada gota de sangre y cada gramo de energía para construir un sueño.   /   God wants to prosper us, but especially in the spiritual realm (Psalm 1:1-3; Psalm 122:6; 2 Chronicles 20:20; Nehemiah 2:20; 3 John 1:2), and to do so we must invest (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2), not only money, but also our time, our love. But to prosper we must do things God’s way (Joshua 1:8). We must live life according to divine principles. To live life is to accept it with its risks and challenges, to put every drop of blood and every gram of energy into building a dream.

HAY QUE APRENDER A SOÑAR. Pero los sueños se alcanzan poco a poco. Afirma el autor del libro “Vive tu sueño”, “Los grandes hombres y mujeres de la historia no fueron grandes por el dinero, ni la gloria que alcanzaron, ni por las posesiones que lograron. Fueron grandes porque se entregaron a sí mismos por otros y por causas que vivieron más allá de ellos. Su sueño perdura más allá de ellos porque vivieron para los demás”. Afirmó un profesor y científico estadounidense desahuciado: “No podemos cambiar las cartas que se nos reparten, pero sí cómo jugamos nuestra partida”. Este profesor dictó su última charla en la universidad, ahora titulada “Cómo cumplir verdaderamente los sueños de tu infancia”. El contenido profundo del discurso de este profesor es que nunca nos olvidemos de soñar, que luchemos por conseguir nuestras metas, que los obstáculos son estímulos en el camino y que nos basemos en el optimismo, el agradecimiento y en saber perdonar y pedir disculpas con sinceridad.  /  WE MUST LEARN TO DREAM. But dreams are achieved little by little. The author of the book "Live Your Dream" states, "The great men and women of history were not great because of the money, the glory they achieved, or the possessions they acquired. They were great because they gave themselves for others and for causes that lived beyond them. Their dream endures beyond them because they lived for others." A disgraced American professor and scientist stated, "We cannot change the cards we are dealt, but we can change how we play our game." This professor gave his last talk at the university, now titled "How to Truly Achieve Your Childhood Dreams." The profound content of this professor's speech is that we should never forget to dream, that we should strive to achieve our goals, that obstacles are incentives along the way, and that we should base ourselves on optimism, gratitude, and knowing how to forgive and apologize sincerely.

Solo se puede recibir de Dios cuando se tiene hambre de Él. Debemos disponernos para recibir de Dios lo que Él quiere que sepamos. Debemos ser ejemplo para otros, luz en medio de la oscuridad, que nuestra vida sea testimonio para tocar otras vidas, y la manera de hacer esto es dando buen ejemplo. Nos gusta recibir bendiciones y promesas, pero olvidamos que primero se necesita disciplina, fe, servicio, compromiso, dominio propio, templanza, y compartir con los demás. Para recibir bendiciones de parte de Dios primero debemos obedecerlo (Gálatas 3:6-10).  Dios no solo nos pide que no hagamos lo malo, Dios nos pide que hagamos lo bueno.  En 1 Corintios 9:24  dice: “¿No sabéis que los que corren en el estadio, todos a la verdad corren, pero uno solo se lleva el premio? Corred de tal manera que lo obtengáis.”  Debemos correr la buena carrera de hacer la voluntad de Dios todos los días, y Su voluntad está consignada en Su palabra, por eso es tan importante reflexionar todos los días sobre ella.  /   You can only receive from God when you are hungry for Him. We must be willing to receive from God what He wants us to know. We must be an example to others, a light in the midst of darkness, so that our lives may be a testimony to touch other lives, and the way to do this is by setting a good example. We like to receive blessings and promises, but we forget that first we need discipline, faith, service, commitment, self-control, temperance, and sharing with others. To receive blessings from God, we must first obey Him (Galatians 3:6-10). God not only asks us not to do wrong, God asks us to do good. 1 Corinthians 9:24 says, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” We must run the good race of doing God’s will every day, and His will is recorded in His Word, which is why it is so important to reflect on it every day.

El servicio es fundamental, venimos a esta tierra a servir. Adquirimos un PROPÓSITO muy valioso en la vida, cuando nos dedicamos a servir a los demás. Desde nuestra situación actual, desde el trabajo que tenemos, desde el  Emprendimiento, desde nuestra familia, pero no con intereses egoístas sino con la convicción que nuestra felicidad se logra ayudando a la realización de las demás personas, preocupándonos por su bienestar, por sus problemas, por sus necesidades, y ayudándolas.  /   Service is fundamental; we come to this earth to serve. We acquire a very valuable PURPOSE in life when we dedicate ourselves to serving others. From our current situation, from the job we have, from entrepreneurship, from our family, but not with selfish interests, but with the conviction that our happiness is achieved by helping other people achieve their fulfillment, by caring about their well-being, their problems, their needs, and by helping them.

El poder de la palabra es muy grande, pero hay que creer lo que Dios prometió.  Decirlo y creerlo es la manera de dar resultados, es el positivismo en el que hay que moverse.  Nuestras palabras muchas veces son negativas, y la palabra tiene poder. Le ponemos voz a la palabra de Dios desde nuestra boca. La palabra de Dios es una declaración en nuestras vidas. Lo que declaramos con nuestra boca así va a ser. De la abundancia del corazón habla la boca (Lucas 6:45). La mejor manera de contrarrestar las palabras negativas es llenarse de Dios. Debemos declarar bendición diariamente en nuestras vidas (Romanos 10:8-10).  /  The power of the word is very great, but you have to believe what God promised. Saying it and believing it is the way to get results, it is the positivism in which you have to move. Our words are often negative, and the word has power. We give voice to the word of God from our mouth. The word of God is a declaration in our lives. What we declare with our mouth will be so. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). The best way to counteract negative words is to be filled with God. We must declare blessing daily in our lives (Romans 10:8-10).

Hay que ser atrevidos con la vida. Somos nosotros mismos los que le ponemos límite a las bendiciones que Dios quiere derramar en nuestras vidas.  A todos viene la oportunidad, lo que hay que hacer es aprovecharla (Eclesiastés 9:11). Para Dios no existe el pasado, tan solo existe el presente y el futuro. Aunque hayamos pecado, si nos arrepentimos y lo buscamos sinceramente de todo corazón, tendremos Su perdón, y los deseos de nuestro corazón, lo que se necesita es tener la actitud apropiada y el compromiso de comportarnos como verdaderos hijos de Dios.  Debemos buscar las bendiciones de Dios en nuestras vidas, es mucho más fácil seguir igual en nuestras vidas, pero Dios siempre nos coloca la disyuntiva, el camino fácil ó el camino difícil.  Cuál vamos a escoger? Los miedos los debemos vencer afrontándolos y no huyendo de ellos.  /   We must be bold with life. We ourselves are the ones who put limits on the blessings that God wants to pour into our lives. Opportunity comes to everyone, what we must do is take advantage of it (Ecclesiastes 9:11). For God there is no past, only the present and the future. Even if we have sinned, if we repent and sincerely seek Him with all our heart, we will have His forgiveness, and the desires of our heart, what is needed is to have the appropriate attitude and the commitment to behave as true children of God. We must seek God's blessings in our lives, it is much easier to continue the same in our lives, but God always places the dilemma before us, the easy path or the difficult path. Which are we going to choose? We must overcome our fears by facing them and not running away from them.

Debemos nutrirnos de pensamientos positivos (Filipenses 4:8).  A Dios le interesa nuestros pensamientos, porque afectan nuestras palabras y actos. Dios quiere que tengamos pensamientos buenos, porque ellos son pensamientos saludables, y nos hacen bien física y mentalmente. Es fundamental crecer todos los días, en el Espíritu sobre todo. El manejo de las emociones es clave.   /   We must nourish ourselves with positive thoughts (Philippians 4:8). God is interested in our thoughts, because they affect our words and actions. God wants us to have good thoughts, because they are healthy thoughts, and they do us good physically and mentally. It is essential to grow every day, especially in the Spirit. Managing emotions is key.

Necesitamos de la gracia y la misericordia de Dios TODOS los días.  No se puede tener suficiente de ellas. En Filipenses 2:9-11 nos dice que Su nombre representa Su ser, describiendo quién es Él, “Por lo cual Dios también le exaltó hasta lo sumo, y le dio un nombre que es sobre todo nombre, para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra; y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor, para gloria de Dios Padre.” No es a través de milagros que vamos a tener una relación estrecha con el Padre, es a través de una relación estrecha con Jesús (Juan 6:57). Todos queremos hallar la felicidad, pero es a través de la senda de vida que la vamos a hallar (Salmos 16:11).  Y el camino, la verdad y la vida son Jesús (Juan 14:6-9). Debemos buscar todos los días a Dios (Proverbios 8:34), debemos reflexionar en Su palabra, en Sus promesas, en Sus mandatos (Salmos 119:4), para que el Maestro no diga “¿Por qué me llamáis, Señor, Señor, y no hacéis lo que yo digo?” (Lucas 6:46).  En Zacarías 4:6 dice: “No con ejército, ni con fuerza, sino con mi Espíritu, ha dicho Dios”.  /   We need God’s grace and mercy EVERY day. You can’t get enough of it. Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that His name represents His being, describing who He is, “Therefore God also highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” It is not through miracles that we are going to have a close relationship with the Father, it is through a close relationship with Jesus (John 6:57). We all want to find happiness, but it is through the path of life that we are going to find it (Psalm 16:11). And the way, the truth, and the life is Jesus (John 14:6-9).  We must seek God every day (Proverbs 8:34), we must reflect on His word, on His promises, on His commands (Psalm 119:4), so that the Master does not say “Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do the things I say?” (Luke 6:46). In Zechariah 4:6 it says: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says God.”

Debemos tener fé en Dios, y confiar en Él, y no en los hombres (Jeremias 17:5-8). En Marcos 11:22-24 Jesús dijo: “Tened fe en Dios. Porque de cierto os digo que cualquiera que dijere a este monte: Quítate y échate en el mar, y no dudare en su corazón, sino creyere que será hecho lo que dice, lo que diga le será hecho. Por tanto, os digo que todo lo que pidiereis orando, creed que lo recibiréis, y os vendrá.”  /   We must have faith in God, and trust in Him, not in men (Jeremiah 17:5-8). In Mark 11:22-24 Jesus said, “Have faith in God. For truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will be done, he will have what he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask for when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have yours.”

 DONDE ESTA TU HERMANO? - WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER? Debemos aceptar las enseñanzas divinas, los consejos de Dios, consignados en Su palabra.  (Proverbios 8:10). Dios nos hizo a Su imagen y semejanza (Génesis 1:26), con sueños e ilusiones, con posibilidades de grandeza (Salmos 8:4-8), y nos nombró administradores de la Tierra (Génesis 1:28), pero hemos malversado lo que nos dio Dios, y no hemos entendido que no somos los dueños de la Tierra, tan solo somos sus administradores (Salmos 24:1-2). Tú debes ser el cambio que deseas ver en la tierra.  /   We must accept divine teachings, God's advice, recorded in His word. (Proverbs 8:10). God made us in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26), with dreams and illusions, with possibilities of greatness (Psalms 8:4-8), and appointed us stewards of the Earth (Genesis 1:28), but we have misappropriated what God gave us, and we have not understood that we are not the owners of the Earth, we are only its stewards (Psalms 24:1-2). You must be the change you want to see on Earth.

TODO LO QUE TENGO NO ME PERTENECE.  TODO LO QUE SOY Y TENGO ME LO REGALÓ EL CREADOR PARA COMPARTIRLO. DONDE ESTA TU HERMANO?  No vamos a resolver el problema de la contaminación, ni la hambruna que azota al mundo, porque tienen raíces profundas, el pecado, pero aunque no lo aceptemos somos guardianes de nuestros hermanos (de todo el mundo) (Génesis 4:9), y podemos y debemos darle un pan al necesitado, debemos cuidar de nuestro planeta, orar por la salvación del mundo. Debemos apoyar iniciativas solidarias, aquellas que propenden por un mundo más justo, más equitativo para todos, que buscan eliminar el analfabetismo, organizar a las personas más necesitadas en cooperativas que ayuden a todos sus miembros, aquellas que buscan una remuneración más justa para todos los trabajadores. Tú no puedes voltear la mirada, debes comprometerte con los más necesitados. Y aunque debemos desear heredarle un mejor mundo a nuestros hijos, debemos pensar en heredarle al planeta mejores hijos. Es en el hogar donde los hijos aprenden respeto, convivencia, amor, y a cuidar de su planeta. La misericordia de Dios se debe ver en nuestros pequeños actos de bondad que todos los días hagan de esta tierra un sitio más justo.  /   EVERYTHING I HAVE DOES NOT BELONG TO ME. EVERYTHING I AM AND HAVE WAS GIVEN TO ME BY THE CREATOR TO SHARE. WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER? We are not going to solve the problem of pollution, nor the famine that plagues the world, because they have deep roots, sin, but even if we do not accept it, we are guardians of our brothers (from all over the world) (Genesis 4:9), and we can and should give bread to the needy, we should take care of our planet, pray for the salvation of the world. We should support solidarity initiatives, those that strive for a more just, more equitable world for all, that seek to eliminate illiteracy, organize the neediest people into cooperatives that help all their members, those that seek fairer remuneration for all workers. You cannot look away, you must commit yourself to those most in need. And although we should wish to leave a better world to our children, we should think about leaving the planet better children.  It is at home where children learn respect, coexistence, love, and how to care for their planet. God's mercy must be seen in our small acts of kindness that make this earth a more just place every day.

En lo cultural, debemos tener un real compromiso con la vida. Hay que eliminar el uso de bolsas de plástico. Reciclar la basura. No destruyamos los árboles. No utilices tanto tu vehículo. El agua es un recurso muy valioso y lo tenemos que proteger. Hay varias formas en las que podemos contribuir al ahorro del agua: Al ducharse hacerlo en menos tiempo. Cerrar la llave cuando nos enjabonemos y afeitemos. En la casa, si tenemos luces prendidas que no utilizamos, apaguémoslas. No tiremos basura en las calles. Tengamos una mentalidad de cero papel:  Antes de imprimir algún documento pensemos si realmente es necesario. Si podemos imprimir a doble cara, hagámoslo; debemos aprender a reciclar las basuras, apartando los desechos biológicos del material reciclable; compensar el daño ambiental causado, sembrando árboles por ejemplo; usar documentos electrónicos. En ambientes industriales debemos tener una cultura libre de incidentes, debemos auto cuidarnos, cuidar a los otros y al medioambiente, debemos usar los elementos de protección personal, hacer un análisis de riesgos y valorar todas las circunstancias antes de abordar una tarea. Luchemos juntos por prevenir que actividades mineras acaben con el agua y contaminen el medio ambiente. En fin, son muchas las cosas que podemos y debemos hacer para ayudarle a la naturaleza.  /  In terms of culture, we must have a real commitment to life. We must eliminate the use of plastic bags. We must recycle our rubbish. We must not destroy the trees. We must not use our vehicles so much. Water is a very valuable resource and we must protect it. There are several ways in which we can contribute to saving water: When taking a shower, we must do so in less time. We must turn off the tap when we wash ourselves with soap and shave. At home, if we have lights on that we are not using, we must turn them off. We must not throw rubbish in the streets. We must have a zero-paper mentality: Before printing any document, we must think about whether it is really necessary. If we can print on both sides, we must do so; we must learn to recycle rubbish, separating biological waste from recyclable material; we must compensate for the environmental damage caused, by planting trees for example; we must use electronic documents.  In industrial environments we must have a culture free of incidents, we must take care of ourselves, others and the environment, we must use personal protection elements, perform a risk analysis and assess all circumstances before tackling a task. Let us fight together to prevent mining activities from using up water and polluting the environment. In short, there are many things we can and should do to help nature.

El compromiso con la vida, el respeto y cabal cumplimiento de los derechos humanos y la protección ambiental, deben estar presentes en todas nuestras actividades. Tener un compromiso con la vida es actuar para garantizar un entorno sano, seguro y limpio en las actividades diarias, anteponiendo la integridad de las personas, del medio ambiente y de la comunidad como valor prioritario. Implica identificar y valorar de manera anticipada los riesgos e implementar las acciones necesarias para eliminarlos, controlarlos o reducirlos.  /   Commitment to life, respect for and full compliance with human rights and environmental protection must be present in all our activities. Having a commitment to life means acting to guarantee a healthy, safe and clean environment in daily activities, putting the integrity of people, the environment and the community first as a priority value. It involves identifying and assessing risks in advance and implementing the necessary actions to eliminate, control or reduce them.

La contaminación que vemos en la Tierra ha visto un gran crecimiento debido al consumismo que nuestra sociedad moderna ha generado. Otro mundo es posible.  Donde se puedan dar los sueños de nuestros hijos.  De acuerdo a estudios internacionales, en el año 2050 necesitaríamos dos planetas Tierra para alimentar el consumismo que nos avasalla. Hay muchas iniciativas para cuidar de la naturaleza:  /  The pollution we see on Earth has seen a huge growth due to the consumerism that our modern society has generated. Another world is possible. Where our children's dreams can come true. According to international studies, in the year 2050 we would need two planets Earth to feed the consumerism that overwhelms us. There are many initiatives to take care of nature:

Si le preguntara a cualquiera si el compromiso con el planeta, con la vida es importante, muy seguramente me diría que sí, pero si verificáramos cómo nos comportamos diariamente y si estas actuaciones evidencian un real compromiso con la vida, encontraríamos inconsistencias, nuestro problema es cultural (cultura es lo que se hace, no lo que piensa o se cree). PROPONGO TRABAJAR EN DOS ASPECTOS: EL ESPIRITUAL Y EL CULTURAL: En lo espiritual debemos tener una comunión diaria con Jesús.  Los cristianos hacemos algo llamado el devocional, que es levantarse muy temprano en la mañana a buscar a Dios (Salmos 63:1, Salmos 90:4). Necesitamos de una comunión diaria con Jesús (Efesios 2:4-6), para a través de la voluntad santificada vencer el pecado. No hay que tener miedo de formar parte de una minoría, una minoría que no ceda en sus principios por la presión del mundo, una minoría que gane almas para Dios (Juan 17:3). Estamos ante una encrucijada en el planeta: Seguiremos contaminando? Acabando con los recursos naturales? Hasta cuando? Ó vamos a tomar conciencia y cuidar lo que Dios nos ha dado para administrarlo sabiamente?  /   If I asked anyone if commitment to the planet, to life, is important, they would most likely say yes, but if we were to check how we behave daily and if these actions show a real commitment to life, we would find inconsistencies; our problem is cultural (culture is what is done, not what is thought or believed). I PROPOSE TO WORK ON TWO ASPECTS: THE SPIRITUAL AND THE CULTURAL: Spiritually we must have daily communion with Jesus. Christians do something called devotional, which is getting up very early in the morning to seek God (Psalms 63:1, Psalms 90:4). We need daily communion with Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-6) in order to overcome sin through sanctified will. We must not be afraid of being part of a minority, a minority that does not give in to its principles due to pressure from the world, a minority that wins souls for God (John 17:3).  We are at a crossroads on the planet: Will we continue polluting? Depleting natural resources? Until when? Or will we become aware and take care of what God has given us to manage it wisely?

Y aunque los problemas que tenemos adelante son muy complejos y de consecuencias funestas para todos, hay problemas que tienen consecuencias eternas, y que debemos aprender a dimensionar. Durante este devocional oramos (Lucas 18:1-8, Apocalipsis 5:8) y le damos gracias a Dios por todas las bendiciones que derrama en nuestras vidas, le pedimos por todo el mundo, comenzando por nuestras familias y siguiendo por nuestros seres amados. Le pedimos a Dios perdón por nuestras faltas, y le suplicamos que se haga Su voluntad en nuestras vidas y en las vidas de todos aquellos que se quieran entregar a Él. Seguimos con las peticiones específicas que tengamos. Nos revestimos con la armadura de Dios (Efesios 6:10-18), para enfrentar la batalla diaria. Sólo es posible vivir una vida de obediencia en la medida en que vivamos una vida de oración (Lucas 6:12). Leemos la palabra de Dios (Romanos 10:17), en orden ó desorden (aunque he encontrado más fructífera su lectura en orden). Reflexionamos sobre lo que Dios nos quiso decir a través de los textos leídos. En el silencio de la reflexión es cuando el fuego del Espíritu se enciende en nuestro corazón para consumir los sentimientos, pensamientos y hábitos errados de la vida (Salmos 39:3). La lectura de la palabra de Dios puede ser acompañada con lecturas adicionales de otros textos. Durante todo el día, en cada acto que hagamos, tenemos muy presente lo dialogado con Dios en la mañana, y permitimos que sea Él Quien guíe nuestros pasos. Desarrollamos las actividades que normalmente todo el mundo realiza, pero las hacemos para la gloria, la honra y la alabanza de Dios.   /   And although the problems we face are very complex and have dire consequences for everyone, there are problems that have eternal consequences, and we must learn to understand them. During this devotional we pray (Luke 18:1-8, Revelation 5:8) and we thank God for all the blessings He pours into our lives, we ask Him for the whole world, starting with our families and continuing with our loved ones. We ask God for forgiveness for our faults, and we beg Him to do His will in our lives and in the lives of all those who want to give themselves to Him. We continue with the specific requests we have. We put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), to face the daily battle. It is only possible to live a life of obedience to the extent that we live a life of prayer (Luke 6:12). We read the word of God (Romans 10:17), in order or disorder (although I have found it more fruitful to read it in order).  We reflect on what God wanted to tell us through the texts we read. It is in the silence of reflection that the fire of the Spirit is lit in our hearts to consume the wrong feelings, thoughts, and habits of life (Psalm 39:3). The reading of the word of God can be accompanied by additional readings of other texts. Throughout the day, in every act we do, we keep in mind what we discussed with God in the morning, and we allow Him to guide our steps. We carry out the activities that everyone normally does, but we do them for the glory, honor, and praise of God.

La oración derrumba las dificultades, abre las puertas cerradas, da energía y poder para una vida victoriosa, y nos concede habilidad y fuerza para anunciar el evangelio (Efesios 6:18). No es una vida de retiro la que propongo, sino una vida normal, pero con la oración como canal fundamental de comunicación con Dios. Dios nos habla poderosamente todos los días, nos dice qué hacer, cómo comportarnos, qué decir, y nosotros qué hacemos normalmente? Cerramos nuestros oídos y no lo escuchamos. DEBEMOS APRENDER A DIALOGAR CON DIOS, Y ESCUCHAR LO QUE TIENE PARA DECIRNOS.   /   Prayer breaks down difficulties, opens closed doors, gives energy and power for a victorious life, and grants us the ability and strength to announce the gospel (Ephesians 6:18). I am not proposing a life of retirement, but rather a normal life, but with prayer as the fundamental channel of communication with God. God speaks to us powerfully every day, telling us what to do, how to behave, what to say, and what do we normally do? We close our ears and do not listen to Him. WE MUST LEARN TO DIALOGUE WITH GOD, AND LISTEN TO WHAT HE HAS TO TELL US.

Mi tesis doctoral es un aporte a la convivencia con la naturaleza. Busca disminuir los incidentes ambientales, las pérdidas de vidas humanas. Dios nos puso como administradores de la tierra (Salmos 115:16), pero el problema surge cuando creemos que somos los dueños de la tierra y abusamos de nuestro dominio.  La tierra paga las consecuencias de nuestros abusos y es lo que vemos hoy en día: Contaminación, sobre explotación de la tierra, lo que genera a su vez hambrunas, inundaciones, etc.  El dueño de la tierra vendrá a pedirnos cuentas de nuestra administración, y qué vamos a responderle? No hay que esperar a lo que viene después de la muerte para disfrutar de las promesas de Dios, podemos hacerlo aquí y ahora. El reino de los cielos ya está entre nosotros (Lucas 17:20-21). Quien tiene a Jesús en el corazón, ya tiene el reino de los cielos. Debemos ser instrumentos de paz para este mundo (Filipenses 4:7). Muchas veces culpamos a Dios por los desastres naturales que acaban con muchas vidas, y que afectan a muchas personas. Pero debemos darnos cuenta que Dios solo quiere bendecirnos (Jeremías 29:11), y somos nosotros mismos los responsables de todas las tragedias naturales.  /  My doctoral thesis is a contribution to coexistence with nature. It seeks to reduce environmental incidents and the loss of human lives. God has placed us as stewards of the earth (Psalm 115:16), but the problem arises when we believe that we are the owners of the earth and we abuse our dominion. The earth pays the consequences of our abuses and this is what we see today: Pollution, overexploitation of the earth, which in turn generates famines, floods, etc. The owner of the earth will come to ask us for an account of our administration, and what are we going to answer him? We do not have to wait for what comes after death to enjoy the promises of God, we can do it here and now. The kingdom of heaven is already among us (Luke 17:20-21). Whoever has Jesus in his heart, already has the kingdom of heaven. We must be instruments of peace for this world (Philippians 4:7).  We often blame God for natural disasters that take many lives and affect many people. But we must realize that God only wants to bless us (Jeremiah 29:11), and we ourselves are responsible for all natural tragedies.

La voracidad del ser humano por los recursos naturales del planeta no conoce límite. El autor del libro “La Tierra se agota” augura que la Tierra, actualmente en una encrucijada ecológica, se volverá contra la humanidad en forma de catástrofes naturales y altos niveles de contaminación. En los últimos 50 años hemos acabado con la mitad de las especies que existían. Existen todo tipo de amenazas, cosas terribles que van a ocurrirle a nuestro planeta si no cambiamos con urgencia nuestra forma de comportarnos y de relacionarnos. Estamos comenzando a comprobar los primeros cambios adversos que se están produciendo en la atmósfera como consecuencia de nuestras acciones. La destrucción de los hábitats no solo impide el sustento de las personas, sino que afecta el clima y al mundo entero.   /  Humans' voracity for the planet's natural resources knows no bounds. The author of the book "The Earth is Running Out" predicts that the Earth, currently at an ecological crossroads, will turn against humanity in the form of natural disasters and high levels of pollution. In the last 50 years we have wiped out half of the species that existed. There are all kinds of threats, terrible things that will happen to our planet if we do not urgently change our way of behaving and relating to each other. We are beginning to see the first adverse changes taking place in the atmosphere as a result of our actions. The destruction of habitats not only prevents people from making a living, but it affects the climate and the entire world.

La soberbia es la que hace reñir la ciencia con la fe, pero en realidad no tienen que reñir, se necesita humildad para reconciliarlas (esto no es dicho por mí, sino por un gran hombre de ciencia).  El camino de la humildad es lo que necesitamos para dejarnos guiar por Dios (Salmos 25:9). La soberbia y la altivez de los ojos, por el contrario, son reprobadas por Dios (Isaías 10:12). Los pecados son fruto de la soberbia, la soberbia es la alocada idea de que puedes vivir sin Dios: tú eres tu propio dios; nadie tiene que decirte lo que debes o no debes hacer; tú eres el dueño de tu vida. El tiempo se encarga de demostrarte que esa loca idea te hace descender a las profundidades más oscuras del comportamiento humano (Abdías 4). Ríndete a Jesús, entrégale tus planes, colócate en Sus manos. En lugar de correr detrás de la creación, debemos hacer del Creador maravilloso nuestro compañero de cada instante de nuestra vida (Amos 5:8).  /   Pride is what makes science and faith conflict, but in reality they do not have to conflict, humility is needed to reconcile them (this is not said by me, but by a great man of science). The path of humility is what we need to let ourselves be guided by God (Psalm 25:9). Pride and haughtiness of eyes, on the contrary, are reproved by God (Isaiah 10:12). Sins are the fruit of pride, pride is the crazy idea that you can live without God: you are your own god; no one has to tell you what you should or should not do; you are the master of your life. Time will show you that this crazy idea makes you descend to the darkest depths of human behavior (Obadiah 4). Surrender to Jesus, give Him your plans, place yourself in His hands.  Instead of running after creation, we must make the wonderful Creator our companion every moment of our lives (Amos 5:8).

El director del Proyecto Genoma Humano, autor del libro “El lenguaje de Dios”, declara que los humanos hemos comenzado la batalla entre ciencia y fe, y nos corresponde acabarla. Añade que se puede encontrar a Dios en el laboratorio de igual forma que en una catedral y que desentrañar los misterios de la naturaleza aumenta el sentimiento de sobrecogimiento, más que eliminarlo. Considera que la fe es una forma de comprender los misterios profundos que la ciencia es incapaz de resolver. Dice el científico que evidentemente, necesitaremos a la ciencia para que nos ayude a resolver muchos de nuestros problemas (enfermedades, sistemas de comunicación, cuidado del planeta), pero una aproximación puramente materialista, desprovista del aspecto espiritual de la humanidad, nos empobrecerá. Dice el científico que tanto ciencia como fe son formas de buscar la verdad. La ciencia la busca observando cómo funciona el mundo natural, y la fe busca respuestas a cuestiones más profundas, como ¿por qué hay algo en lugar de nada? o ¿cuál es el sentido de la vida? o ¿existe Dios? Todo requiere un cierto elemento de fe, no se puede ser científico si no se tiene fe en el hecho de que existe un orden en la Naturaleza y que ésta se comportará de una manera reproducible y predecible.  /   The director of the Human Genome Project, author of the book “The Language of God,” says that humans have begun the battle between science and faith, and it is up to us to finish it. He adds that God can be found in the laboratory as well as in a cathedral, and that unraveling the mysteries of nature increases the feeling of awe, rather than eliminating it. He sees faith as a way of understanding the deep mysteries that science is unable to solve. He says that we will obviously need science to help us solve many of our problems (diseases, communication systems, caring for the planet), but a purely materialistic approach, devoid of the spiritual aspect of humanity, will impoverish us. He says that both science and faith are ways of searching for truth. Science searches for truth by observing how the natural world works, and faith seeks answers to deeper questions, such as why is there something rather than nothing? or what is the meaning of life? or does God exist?  Everything requires a certain element of faith, you cannot be a scientist if you do not have faith in the fact that there is an order in Nature and that it will behave in a reproducible and predictable way.

Muchas veces demasiada ciencia nos puede alejar de Dios, lo cual no debe ser así. Hice un gran amigo que también es otro milagro de Dios. Me compartió su testimonio: A mi amigo los médicos le detectaron un tumor en el centro del cerebro. El tumor le produjo hidrocefalia. La hidrocefalia le produjo un dolor de cabeza muy fuerte, y cuando fue inicialmente a consultar al doctor, le dijeron que lo que tenía era resaca debido a las borracheras de fin de año (mi amigo tomaba bastante bebidas alcohólicas). Cuando se internó en la clínica, lo tuvo que hacer en silla de ruedas, porque los pies no le ayudaban ni siquiera a caminar.  Lo operaron inicialmente de la hidrocefalia que presentó y le insertaron la válvula de Hakim en la cabeza (el mismo tipo de válvula que me insertaron a mí en la cabeza). Mi amigo tenía muchas ganas de salir adelante, y mucha fuerza de voluntad. Lo operaron luego y le sacaron el tumor luego de una cirugía que duró doce horas. Luego durante la recuperación en la casa le hicieron veinticinco sesiones de radioterapia. Mi amigo es muy joven, está estudiando en la universidad. Al comienzo su mamá lo acompañaba a la universidad. Tiene algunos problemas para caminar, algunos problemas ópticos, y su mano izquierda está semidormida, pero LE DA LAS GRACIAS A DIOS POR LA VIDA QUE LE REGALÓ, porque pudo haber sido peor, pero gracias a Dios no lo fue. Cuando mi amigo estaba en la clínica, en los dos meses de hospitalización que tuvo, había momentos en los que su ánimo caía, y cuando él más se desesperaba, algo lo tranquilizaba, le decía que no se preocupara, que estuviera tranquilo, que era una prueba por lo que estaba atravesando, pero era para bien. Dicha prueba cambio a mi amigo, y lo que le decía que era para bien, tenía toda la razón, fue para bien. Su relación con sus papás cambio, ahora son sus amigos, dejó de abusar de las bebidas alcohólicas. Mi amigo siente que cuando le sacaron el tumor, también le extirparon todo lo malo de la vida. Hoy por hoy, mi amigo es una persona feliz, donde quiera que llega la gente lo abraza y se siente feliz de verlo. Mi amigo me confesó que si Dios lo pusiera a escoger entre seguir una vida normal sin que se le presentara el tumor, y la dura prueba que pasó, él escogería que le saliera el tumor, porque él mismo reconoce que su vida no iba a terminar bien si él hubiera continuado en esos pasos.  Pobre de aquel que no tiene a Dios en su corazón. Mi amigo se ha parado delante de sus compañeros para compartir su testimonio de vida (eso es de elogiar en alguien de tan corta edad). Mi amigo no creía en Dios antes. Pasaba las horas refugiado en la lectura de libros científicos. Mi amigo ahora nos aconseja darle gracias a Dios a cada instante. Mi amigo es consciente de que Dios le puso esta dura prueba para compartirla y poder ayudar a otras personas.  /   Many times too much science can distance us from God, which should not be the case. I made a great friend who is also another miracle of God. He shared his testimony with me: My friend's doctors detected a tumor in the center of his brain. The tumor caused hydrocephalus. The hydrocephalus caused him a very strong headache, and when he initially went to see the doctor, they told him that what he had was a hangover due to the end-of-year drinking (my friend drank a lot of alcohol). When he was admitted to the clinic, he had to go in a wheelchair, because his feet did not even help him walk. He was initially operated on for the hydrocephalus he had and they inserted the Hakim valve in his head (the same type of valve that was inserted in my head). My friend really wanted to get ahead, and had a lot of willpower. He was then operated on and the tumor was removed after a surgery that lasted twelve hours. Then during his recovery at home, he had twenty-five sessions of radiotherapy.  My friend is very young, he is studying at university. At first his mother accompanied him to university. He has some problems walking, some eye problems, and his left hand is half asleep, but HE THANKS GOD FOR THE LIFE HE GIVEN HIM, because it could have been worse, but thank God it wasn't. When my friend was in the clinic, during the two months he was hospitalized, there were moments when his spirits fell, and when he was most desperate, something calmed him down, telling him not to worry, to be calm, that it was a test for what he was going through, but it was for the best. That test changed my friend, and what she told him was for the best, she was absolutely right, it was for the best. His relationship with his parents changed, they are now his friends, he stopped abusing alcohol. My friend feels that when they removed the tumor, they also removed all the bad things in his life.  Today, my friend is a happy person. Wherever he goes, people hug him and are happy to see him. My friend confessed to me that if God made him choose between living a normal life without the tumor appearing, and the hard test he went through, he would choose to have the tumor appear, because he himself recognizes that his life would not end well if he had continued in those steps. Poor is he who does not have God in his heart. My friend has stood up in front of his classmates to share his life testimony (that is praiseworthy for someone so young). My friend did not believe in God before. He spent his hours sheltered in reading scientific books. My friend now advises us to thank God at every moment. My friend is aware that God gave him this hard test to share it and to be able to help other people.

NOTA: Mi amigo era vecino de Wilmer y falleció hace un par de años. Cuando los médicos le habían dado 6 meses de vida, duró más de 6 años siendo un testimonio de vida valioso y batallando por su vida.   /   NOTE: My friend was a neighbor of Wilmer's and passed away a couple of years ago. When the doctors had given him 6 months to live, he lasted more than 6 years being a valuable testimony of life and fighting for his life.

El haber logrado el título de doctor es otro milagro que Dios me ha ayudado a que se haga una realidad en mi vida. En mi caso los médicos que me atendieron durante mi derrame cerebral en el año 2008 me desahuciaron, dijeron que en el mejor de los casos yo iba a quedar en estado vegetal, no me daban posibilidades de vida, mucho menos trabajar, y desde que tenía 6 meses del derrame cerebral estoy trabajando, muchísimo menos desarrollar una tesis doctoral, y el 9 de febrero del 2016 tuve la gran bendición de defender mi tesis doctoral. ¡CON DIOS TODO ES POSIBLE! (Mateo 19:26).   /   Having achieved my PhD is another miracle that God has helped me to make a reality in my life. In my case, the medical doctors who treated me during my stroke in 2008 gave up on me, they said that at best I would remain in a vegetative state, they gave me no chance of living, much less working, and since I was 6 months after my stroke I have been working, much less writing a doctoral thesis, and on February 9, 2016 I had the great blessing of defending my doctoral thesis. WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! (Matthew 19:26).

Mi tesis doctoral estaba asociada al desarrollo de una herramienta de software para la detección temprana y el diagnóstico de fallos, un tema que apoya la Seguridad de Procesos, algo que parece teórico, pero que no lo fue para la población de Bhopal (India), donde el 3 de diciembre de 1984 ocurrió un incidente que mató a más de 10.000 personas en menos de una semana, y ha matado o dejado con serias secuelas físicas y genéticas a miles en más de 32 años de la tragedia.   /   My doctoral thesis was associated with the development of a software tool for early detection and diagnosis of faults, a topic that supports Process Safety, something that seems theoretical, but was not for the population of Bhopal (India), where on December 3, 1984 an incident occurred that killed more than 10,000 people in less than a week, and has killed or left thousands with serious physical and genetic consequences in more than 32 years of the tragedy.

Fueron muchos los retos técnicos que representó el realizar un proyecto de tal complejidad, pero en todos ellos DIOS NOS ESCUCHÓ.  Nos iluminó y dio sabiduría para abordar cada dificultad y resolverla, nos mostró el camino que debíamos recorrer. Nos ayudó y nos dio aliento para continuar adelante aún a pesar de que había momentos en los que no se veía un camino de salida.  Nos abrió puertas y nos bendijo grandemente. NO VALEN LOS TITULOS, NI EL DINERO, NI LAS POSICIONES, LO UNICO QUE VALE ES NUESTRA RELACION CON EL PADRE CELESTIAL, POR ESO HAY QUE BUSCARLO INCANSABLEMENTE, INCANSABLEMENTE.  Esto puede sonar muy fuerte para aquellos que tienen títulos, pero les diré esto: Ninguno de los títulos que tengo impidió que pasara por lo que he pasado. Sin embargo Dios sí ha hecho más llevadero todo.  Es un gran engaño el que nos hace la mente; yo antes era muy arrogante, orgulloso, pensaba que estaba por encima de los demás, porque Dios me había premiado con una gran inteligencia. Ahora me encuentro en actitud de aprendizaje. La palabra de Dios dice en Eclesiastés 1:2 “vanidad de vanidades, todo es vanidad”.  “Teme a Dios, y guarda Sus mandamientos; porque esto es el todo del hombre” (Eclesiastés 12:13).  Jesús dijo: “¿Qué aprovechará al hombre, si ganare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma?” (Mateo 16:26). Debemos reconocer a Dios en todos nuestros caminos.  /  There were many technical challenges that came with carrying out a project of such complexity, but in all of them GOD LISTENED TO US. He enlightened us and gave us wisdom to approach and resolve each difficulty, He showed us the path we should take. He helped us and encouraged us to continue forward even though there were times when there was no way out. He opened doors for us and blessed us greatly. TITLES, MONEY, OR POSITIONS ARE NOT VALID, THE ONLY THING THAT IS VALID IS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, THAT IS WHY WE MUST SEEK HIM TIRELESSLY, TIRELESSLY. This may sound very strong to those who have titles, but I will tell you this: None of the titles I have prevented me from going through what I have been through. However, God has made everything more bearable. It is a great deception that the mind plays on us;  I used to be very arrogant, proud, I thought I was above others, because God had rewarded me with great intelligence. Now I find myself in a learning attitude. The word of God says in Ecclesiastes 1:2 “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” “Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole purpose of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Jesus said: “What will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26). We must recognize God in all our ways.

Yo pensaba antes que la excelencia de una persona está marcada por los títulos académicos que se tengan.  Ahora sé que EL CAMINO A LA VERDADERA EXCELENCIA COMIENZA POR LA BÚSQUEDA DE DIOS QUE SE HAGA (la excelencia comienza por tener certeza en lo que se cree).  No soy un fanático, no puedo serlo por mi formación científica, pero reconozco que la búsqueda de Dios es lo más importante que TODO ser humano debe realizar.  /   I used to think that a person's excellence is determined by the academic qualifications they have. Now I know that THE ROAD TO TRUE EXCELLENCE BEGINS WITH THE SEARCH FOR GOD (excellence begins with being certain about what you believe). I am not a fanatic, I cannot be one because of my scientific training, but I recognize that the search for God is the most important thing that EVERY human being must do.
