Reflexion 2023-10-06 SOCORRE AL DEBIL / HELP THE WEAK

SOCORRE AL DEBIL / HELP THE WEAK (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Salmos 82:4.  /  Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.  Psalms 82:4

-¿Bien yo a usted? /  That frozen January morning would end up being unforgettable in my life. It was one of the coldest winters in the United States. It was snowing in Dallas, which is very rare. The temperature was below zero. I, almost frozen, hoped that God would send someone to help me. In the distance, I saw the light of a vehicle approaching. It was a truck. The driver was nice and towed me to a gas station. As I said goodbye, I thanked him: "Thank you very much, you literally saved my life. You can't imagine the good you did me." -Am I good to you? -He responded- You can't imagine the good it did for myself.

 I never forgot those words, and today, when commenting on this psalm, the first thing that came to mind was the memory of that stranger and his strange way of seeing life.

 Every time you help someone, the first person to benefit is yourself. Any time apparently wasted doing good is time gained.

 When God says, "Deliver the afflicted and the needy," He is not setting before us a standard of good behavior. He is showing us a way to be happy. Doing good brings peace to the heart. Many psychoanalysts encourage people to think less about themselves and more about helping others, as a means of calming anxiety.

 Acts of cruelty only bring storm to the heart. Anguish, despair, emptiness and loneliness are the symptoms that indicate that something is wrong inside the human being.

 Jesus wants to calm anxiety. One of the instruments He has for this is his children's own act of kindness. That is the path to lead them to dimensions of life that they would not know otherwise.

 Open your heart to Jesus today. Allow Him to dwell in you. Go out to fulfill your commitments. Rest assured that Jesus is in control of your feelings, thoughts and actions. Walk with eyes willing to see the needs of others. That will reduce your sadness and anxiety. Remember throughout the day the divine warning: " Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Reflexion 2023-09-22 ESCAPA DE LA INGRATITUD / ESCAPE FROM INGRATITUDE

ESCAPA DE LA INGRATITUD / ESCAPE FROM INGRATITUDE (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Proverbios 17:13.  /  Evil will never leave the house of one who pays back evil for good. Proverbs 17:13

 Ingratitude is a character defect. According to Hebrew theology, if man paid for good with evil he should receive divine retribution for suffering. Everything that happens in the world, whether good or evil, was attributed by Hebrew theology to God, because He is the Creator and controller of the universe.

Tú no puedes plantar bananas y cosechar manzanas. /  The reality is that man reaps what he plants. it is the law of life. You can't plant bananas and harvest apples. The harvest time may delay, but the day comes when, finally, the ungrateful, the perverse, the bad man, will receive the consequences of his own actions. It is not divine punishment. It is the natural result of evil.

 Today's verse goes further. By saying "evil shall not depart from his house," it includes the family. That may give the impression of injustice, but the consequences reach the children. Each one is responsible for managing life, knowing what the consequences of his or her actions are.

 Jesus does not only establish a code of ethics that humanity must follow to be happy. That would be moralism. You don't need God to be honest and respect people's lives. There are good citizens who have impeccable conduct, without the help or participation of God.

 Christianity is not just a change of facade. It is not about painting the exterior walls white, while the interior columns are about to fall, nor is it about putting a dressing on the gangrenous wound. Jesus heals from within, cleanses the source of intentions, transforms the inner nature, puts peace in the heart and, from that moment, the creature begins to be a blessing in society and in the world. Your life is a source of inspiration for those around you.

 Do you thank because it is politically correct to thank? Or do you repay good, even to those who do you wrong, because the desire to do so springs from your heart?

Busca a Jesús hoy. /  Seek Jesus today. Give Him your heart and hidden intentions. Allow Him to guide you and lead you in the midst of adversity and betrayal, of which you are often a victim. And don't forget: " Evil will never leave the house of one who pays back evil for good."

Reflexion 2023-09-08 NO PIERDAS LA FE / DON'T LOSE FAITH

NO PIERDAS LA FE / DON'T LOSE FAITH (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Salmos 102:2. / Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. Psalms 102:2.

It's almost midnight here in Talca, the south-central part of Chile. The city's regional theater was packed. Many people eager to hear about Jesus were filling gymnasiums, theaters and other types of auditoriums, in different places, during this week.

 Today, while I was leaving the theater in Talca, someone put a piece of paper in my pocket. In the hotel, before going to bed, I read that person's desperate cry. "I can't take it anymore, sometimes I think that the best thing would be to sleep and not wake up again."

El sueño pasó. El cansancio desapareció. Tomé mi Biblia y me puse a escribir. /  The dream passed. The fatigue disappeared. I took my Bible and started writing. The introduction or superscription of Psalm 102 seems like the cry of the person who gave me the note. "Prayer of an afflicted man who, fainting, pours out his complaint before the Lord."

 The afflicted and faint one can be you or me. There are times in life when you literally want to "go to bed and never wake up again." In those hours, how good it is to read this psalm! In it, one realizes that one is not alone in the experience of pain. The psalmist often went through moments of darkness: "My heart is wounded and dry as grass, so I forget to eat my bread," he says in verse 4.

 Who wants to eat when their son is in jail? Who has the heart to even look at food when the marriage is falling apart? Where do the children of God go in those hours?

 This psalm, composed of 28 verses, is the drama of a person who, despite suffering, does not lose faith. The psalmist knows who to trust. The enemy can take everything away from him, except the trust in the almighty God that he has. The last verse is an extraordinary vision of the future, despite present suffering. "The children of your servants will dwell in safety, and their descendants will be established before you."

No te desanimes. /  Therefore today, do not be intimidated by the shadows of life. You have a God who knows no defeat. Don't be discouraged. Do not allow confidence to flee and although your heart groans in pain, look up and say with all the strength that you still have left: " Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly."

Reflexion 2023-08-25 RECHAZA EL DESANIMO / REJECT DISCOURAGEMENT

RECHAZA EL DESANIMO / REJECT DISCOURAGEMENT (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Proverbios 17:22. / A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbios 17:22.

It is proven by medical science that happy people live longer. Even with cancer, those who are at peace with God and with men have a better chance of being cured. It is not just about positive thoughts. With self-discipline and a little effort, you can tell yourself a million times, "I'm fine, I'm fine." But, when the night comes, the ghosts of your own conscience will disturb your heart. Everything continues the same.

The expression " cheerful heart " that today's text mentions is in Hebrew, Leb sáméh, which literally means a satisfied and grateful heart. Satisfaction is not conformism. It is recognition of the sovereignty of God. Nothing happens under the sun without His permission. What you are experiencing right now, difficult as it may be, is God's wonderful plan for you. I know you don't understand today. Pain prevents you from seeing many things, time will take care of showing you that God is always right.

 Trust in God places peace and optimism in your heart. They are not manufactured attitudes. They are streams of clean water that flow from a pure spring. Connected to infinite power, the most fragile being becomes strong and sees life from a different perspective.

In the dark hours of your life, learn to trust God. As much as adversity seems to destroy your dreams, God did not lose control of the situation. He continues at the helm of your little boat and will take you to the safe harbor. The secret is not to give up.

 If you take your eyes off Jesus and put them on the difficulties, your little boat will begin to sink. Only Jesus is able to help you go through the valley of darkness that you are going through.

¡Abre tu corazón a Dios y clama! /  Open your heart to God and cry out! Tell him that you no longer have the strength to withstand the test. He will listen to you. He is not insensitive to human suffering. He doesn't need us to inform Him of our pain, but when you tell Him what you're feeling, your faith grows, your confidence shines, and it does you extraordinary good. Because " A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

Reflexion 2023-08-11 BENDICE AL SEÑOR / BLESS THE LORD

BENDICE AL SEÑOR / BLESS THE LORD (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Salmos 103:2. / Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Psalms 103:2.

People without memory is people without destiny. If you don't know where you come from, how will you know where you are going? You advance, but where? In what direction? The human being has an unconscious attachment to the past, despite its dizzying projection into the future. From his story she/he draws strength to continue moving forward, despite the obstacles that appear on the way.

The psalmist invites you today to "bless the Lord". In spanish, the word "bless" is composed of two concepts: "to say" and "good". The human being should always bless God, even though the circumstances may not be the best.

But why should we speak well of God if at present everything seems to be upside down? David agrees with us: "Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits." In other words: Review your story. Do you remember how the Lord led you in the past? If you are alive at this moment, if you have what you have, even if it is little, is it only because you made an effort, or because God blessed your effort?

In verse 7 of this psalm, the author goes back to the marvelous way God led Israel in the past, "He made known to Moses His ways, and to the children of Israel His deeds." What events are you referring to? He parted the Red Sea, made manna fall from heaven, drew water from the rock, defeated enemies. Is it little? If God did all that in the past, won't He be able to do greater things in the present?

No te abandonó. / Therefore, speak well of God. "Bless, my soul, the Lord", despite the clouds and the dark sky, despite the tears and the pain. God continues to be God. He didn't abandon you. He does not sleep or rest. He is more present than you imagine.

¿Coincidencia? No. ¿Belleza literaria? / This psalm has 22 verses. The same number of letters as the Hebrew alphabet. It begins and ends in the same way, saying: "Bless, my soul, the Lord." Coincidence? No. Literary beauty? Even less. Simply, confidence that tomorrow will be another day and the sun will rise again.

Therefore, before reviewing your daily schedule, repeat to yourself: " Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits."

Reflexion 2023-07-28 BUSCA SABIDURIA BUSCA A JESUS / SEEK WISDOM SEEK JESUS

BUSCA SABIDURIA BUSCA A JESUS / SEEK WISDOM SEEK JESUS (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Proverbios 17:24 / A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.  Proverbs 17:24

The goal of every intelligent person is to be wise. Acquiring wisdom, she/he manages life in such a way that she/he ends up being happy and making the people around her/him happy.

You do not buy wisdom in the world's fancy stores. It is a precious stone that is priceless. Human beings look for it everywhere and can't find it. Today's verse says that "fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth." Everyone tries to fulfill themselves, they seek prosperity, success and material goods. They believe that happiness is the result of achieving those things. They are deceived. Life shows them the error.

If you want happiness, look for wisdom and you will see life from a correct prism. Existence makes sense. Things or the lack of things do not prevent you from enjoying life to the full.

**  / Where to find wisdom? The apostle Paul says, referring to Jesus: "In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." * and writing to the Corinthians, he confirms this truth: "Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." **

In another part of the book of Proverbs, Wisdom says about herself: "Before the depths I was begotten; before the fountains of many waters were." *** This verse confirms that wisdom is not something abstract. Jesus is wisdom itself and when you go to Him and live with Him, every day, in all circumstances, your decisions are not only yours, but inspired by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. You decide wisely.

Without wisdom, the human being lives hurting himself. No matter how good their intentions may be, no matter how pure their motivations may seem to them, they are born from a selfish heart and are doomed to end up in the human sphere.

Spiritual values, which overcome life's most difficult circumstances, can only be found in Jesus.

Talk to Him today before you face the different paths that life throws your way. Consult with Him before making the decision you need to make, because: " A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth."

Reflexion 2023-07-14 DIOS NUNCA SE EQUIVOCA / GOD IS NEVER WRONG

DIOS NUNCA SE EQUIVOCA / GOD IS NEVER WRONG (tomado del libro Cada día más sabio por el pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproducido con permiso de la Asociación Publicadora Interamericana) / (taken from the book Every Day Wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullón – reproduced with permission of the Inter-American Publishing Association) #reflexiones #reflections

Salmos 95:6 / Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Psalms 95:6

Our century lives the trivialization of God. The human tendency is to make it small and insignificant. The biblical concept of God is different. For modern culture God is a simple energy, aura, light or influence. God is God, sovereign and eternal, Creator of heaven and earth. God personal and present in human life.

The psalmist invites us all to join him in prayer and in acknowledging the greatness of the Creator: "Let us kneel", says the prophet, using the Hebrew word barak, which literally means acknowledging that God is always right. He is never wrong. His advice is wise and is aimed at human happiness, even though it seems meaningless to the creature.

The mystery of His designs does not mean arbitrariness. It is not the angry father who yells at the son: "Shut the fuck up, you just obey!" That apparent mystery seems indecipherable to the human being, limited by petty and earthly values. But one day, when the creature is freed from its human nature, everything will be made clear.

When my oldest son learned to crawl, he was fascinated by electrical outlets. He liked to put his finger in the openings and expose himself to the mortal danger of electrocution. At his tender age, it would be useless to explain to a child barely nine months old the reaction that the union of the positive pole with the negative pole could produce. When I yelled at him, "No!", it was only for my son's sake, even if he was unable to understand.

This is the reason that the psalmist gives in today's text to worship God. "let us bow down in worship," he says, let's recognize that God is God, that He is never wrong and that He only wants our good.

No te desanimes. / If you deposited your life in God's hands, despite that, things will not always turn out the way you would like them to turn out. But trust in the Lord, kneel down, adore Him, because He knows what He is doing and, sooner than you think, you will understand. Don't be discouraged. To reach the port of victory it is necessary to sail with the wind, sometimes with it, sometimes against it, but never stop sailing.

Therefore, "Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker."
