Ofrecer un presente
a una autoridad o recibir un presente, si tú estás en una posición de
influencia, puede ser mal visto. El soborno es un mecanismo inmoral que se usa
para conseguir un favor y hasta para comprar la conciencia. Evidentemente, el
texto bíblico no se está refiriendo a este tipo de presente. / Offering a present to an authority or receiving a present, if you are
in a position of influence, can be frowned upon. Bribery is an immoral
mechanism that is used to obtain a favor and even to buy conscience. Obviously,
the biblical text is not referring to this type of
present.
En las tierras
bíblicas nunca se hablaba con una autoridad real sin llevarle un regalo. Era el
símbolo del respeto. Acercarse a una persona con investidura de rey, sin llevar
nada, con las manos vacías, sería temerario. / In Biblical lands
you never spoke to a royal authority without bringing him a gift. It was the symbol of
respect. Approaching a person with the investiture of a king, without carrying
anything, with empty hands, would be reckless.
Hagamos ahora una
transferencia de todo esto para Dios. Cada vez que. nos aproximamos a El, debemos hacerlo con una actitud de respeto y sumisión. Por
supuesto, el mayor presente que El espera de sus criaturas es un corazón
dispuesto a adorarlo. Cualquier otra cosa que tú le ofrezcas, es apenas
expresión de lo que el corazón está sintiendo. / Let us now transfer all this to God. Everytime that we approach Him, we must do so with an attitude of respect and
submission. Of course, the greatest present that He expects from his creatures
is a heart willing to adore him. Anything else you offer is just an expression of what the heart is feeling.
Hay dos extremos
peligrosos. Por un lado, creer que es posible comprar los favores divinos con oro o plata. Por el otro, pensar que a Dios no le importa la
actitud con la cual tú te acercas a El. / There are two
dangerous extremes. On the one hand,
believing that it is possible to buy divine favors with gold or silver. On the
other, to think that God does not care about the attitude with which you
approach Him.
En los tiempos de
Malaquías, las personas pensaban de esa manera. Por eso, Dios les dijo:
"El hijo honra al padre, y el siervo a su señor, si, pues, soy yo padre,
¿dónde está mi honra? y si soy señor, ¿dónde está mi temor? [ ... ] y cuando ofrecéis el animal ciego para el sacrificio, ¿no es malo? Asimismo
cuando ofrecéis el cojo o el enfermo, ¿no es malo? Preséntalo, pues, a tu
príncipe; ¿acaso se agradará de ti, o le serás acepto? dice el Señor
Todopoderoso". * / In Malachi's time, people thought that way. Therefore, God said to
them: “A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a
father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the
respect due me? [... ] When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice
lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your
governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says
the Lord Almighty." *
¿Qué tipo de
presente le estás ofreciendo tú a Dios? ¿Con qué tipo de actitud lo buscas? Un
corazón humilde y dispuesto a obedecer sus consejos nunca será defraudado. Jesús está
siempre dispuesto a escuchar la oración sincera de sus hijos. / What kind of present are you offering to God? With what kind of
attitude do you seek Him? A humble heart and
willing to obey His advice will never
be disappointed. Jesus is always willing to listen to the sincere prayer of his
children.
¿Pensaste ya que tu
cuerpo es el templo del Espíritu Santo? Y si es con tu cuerpo que tú sirves al
Señor, ¿no sería el momento de ver la manera como
cuidas tu cuerpo? Haz eso hoy, porque "la dádiva del hombre le ensancha el
camino y le lleva delante de los grandes". / Have you already
thought that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? And if it is with
your body that you serve the Lord, wouldn't it be time
to see how you take care of your body? Do that today, because " A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great."
