Descenderá como la lluvia sobre la hierba cortada; como el rocío que destila sobre la tierra. Salmos 72:6. / May he be like rain falling on a mown field,like showers watering the earth. Psalms 72:6
El hombre de aproximadamente 50 años, me miraba con ojos de súplica. Como si yo pudiese, con una palabra, resolver sus problemas. Vestía un terno azul marino y camisa blanca. Aparentemente era un ejecutivo que estaba pasando por el mayor drama de su vida. "¡Ah, si pudiese comenzar todo de nuevo!", me dijo después de contarme el drama de su hogar destruido. "¿De qué vale todo lo que conseguí en la vida, si perdí lo más precioso, que es mi familia?" -preguntó, casi como afirmando. / The man, approximately 50 years old, looked at me with pleading eyes. As if I could, with a word, solve his problems. He was wearing a navy blue suit and a white shirt. He apparently was an executive who was going through the biggest drama of his life. "Oh, if I could start all over again!", he told me after telling me the drama of his destroyed home. "What's the point of everything I achieved in life, if I lost the most precious thing, which is my family?" -he asked, almost as if affirming.
"Comenzar de nuevo". Cuántas veces he oído esa expresión en los labios de personas que pasan por el valle del dolor y de la angustia. / "Start again". How many times have I heard that expression on the lips of people who go through the valley of pain and anguish.
En opinión del hombre que hablaba conmigo, ya era "demasiado tarde", su hogar ya estaba deshecho, no había manera de reconstruir el vaso de cristal hecho pedazos. / In the opinion of the man who was talking to me, it was "too late", his home was already broken, there was no way to rebuild the shattered glass vase.
El salmista piensa diferente. Para él nunca es "demasiado tarde". En el verso de hoy presenta un campo segado. La palabra hebrea es gez, que podría ser traducida más apropiadamente como "un campo de pasto que fue tragado". / The psalmist thinks differently. For him it is never "too late." In today's verse he presents a harvested field. The Hebrew word is gez, which could be more appropriately translated as "a field of grass that was swallowed up."
El ganado pasó y no dejó nada. Aparentemente todo estaba acabado, ya no era posible comenzar de nuevo, el precioso vaso de cristal está hecho pedazos, pero el poeta afirma: "Descenderá como la lluvia sobre la hierba cortada". / The cattle passed by and left nothing. Apparently everything was finished, it was no longer possible to start again, the precious crystal vase is shattered, but the poet affirms: "May he be like rain falling on a mown field."
¿Quién es ese que "descenderá", que el salmista menciona? ¿Quién es capaz de sacar vida de donde solo hay muerte? ¿Quién es el que puede sacar agua de la roca, abrir el Mar Rojo, caminar sobre las aguas, hacer andar un paralítico después de 38 años de parálisis, resucitar un cadáver que estaba en descomposición? ¿Quién es el que dijo un día: "Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba"?* / Who is this one who "shall come down" that the psalmist mentions? Who is capable of bringing life from where there is only death? Who is the one who can draw water from the rock, part the Red Sea, walk on water, make a paralytic walk after 38 years of paralysis, resurrect a corpse that was decomposing? Who is He who said one day: "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink"?*
Sí. Cuando todo parece perdido, cuando desde el punto de vista humano todo llegó al fin, cuando tú sientes que es "demasiado tarde", mira a Jesús con los brazos abiertos, listo para darte una nueva oportunidad. / Yes. When everything seems lost, when from a human point of view everything has come to an end, when you feel that it is "too late", look at Jesus with open arms, ready to give you a new opportunity.
Año nuevo llegó, y con él la mano extendida de Jesús. Nunca es tarde para quien se aferra de esa mano maravillosa. Hoy puede ser un nuevo día para ti. / New Year arrived, and with it the outstretched hand of Jesus. It is never too late for those who hold on to that wonderful hand. Today can be a new day for you.
Cree en eso, y al comenzar este nuevo año, que Jesús descienda sobre ti "como la lluvia sobre la hierba cortada; como el' rocío que destila sobre la tierra". / Believe in that, and as you begin this new year, may Jesus descend upon you "like rain falling on a mown field,like showers watering the earth."
