es fatuidad y oprobio. Proverbios 18:13. / To answer before listening— that is folly and shame. Proverbs 18:13
La razón
por la cual tenemos dos oídos y una boca es porque debemos oír más y hablar
menos. Seguramente tú ya conoces esta frase. Pertenece a Zenón, que vivió tres
siglos antes de Cristo. Era un filósofo griego que le daba valor al arte de
oír. / The reason we have two ears and one mouth is
because we should hear more and speak less. Surely you already know this
phrase. It belongs to Zeno, who lived three centuries before Christ. He was a
Greek philosopher who valued the art of hearing.
Es triste
ver que hoy a poca gente le gusta escuchar. Tal vez por eso los psicoanalistas
tienen una carrera lucrativa. Miles de personas acuden a los consultorios para
que las escuchen. Todos hablan, todo el tiempo, y en todo lugar. / It's
sad to see that today few people like to listen. Maybe that's why
psychoanalysts have a lucrative career. Thousands of people come to the clinics
to be heard. Everyone talks,
all the time, and everywhere.
El
consejo de Salomón tiene que ver con el peligro de hablar antes de oír. / Solomon's
advice has to do with the danger of speaking before listening.
No seas
apresurado, presta atención. No hay sustituto para la atención. Si no sabes
todavía cuál es la pregunta completa, ¿cómo vas a responder? Si no escuchas la
orden, ¿qué vas a obedecer? / Don't be hasty, pay attention. There is no
substitute for care. If you don't know what the full question is yet, how are
you going to answer? If you don't listen to the order, what are you going to
obey?
Aprende a
escuchar. Es una de las principales necesidades del ser humano. / Learn to
listen. It is one of the main needs of human beings.
Escucha
la voz de Dios. Detente, medita, analiza porqué las cosas están yendo de la
manera que están yendo. Si todos los días dedicas un tiempo para escuchar la
voz de Dios, durante por lo menos quince minutos, tu día será más productivo.
La fuerza que viene del Señor te ayudará a enfrentar los desafíos del día con
coraje. / Listen to the voice of God. Stop, meditate,
analyze why things are going the way they are. If you take time every day to
listen to God's voice, for at least fifteen minutes, your day will be more
productive. The strength that comes from the Lord will help you face the
challenges of the day with courage.
El coraje
no es ausencia de miedo. El miedo siempre estará presente en la naturaleza
humana, pero tú lo encararás y lo dominarás con las fuerzas que recibes de Dios
en esos quince minutos diarios de meditación. / Courage is
not the absence of fear. Fear will always be present in human nature, but you
will face it and dominate it with the strength you receive from God in those
fifteen minutes of daily meditation.
Si, por
el contrario, tú sales de mañana, corriendo para cumplir tus compromisos, sin
escuchar la voz de Dios, el resultado, según el versículo de hoy, será:
"fatuidad y oprobio". / If, on the other hand, you go out in the
morning, rushing to fulfill your commitments, without listening to the voice of
God, the result, according to today's verse, will be: "folly and shame."
Fatuidad
es tontería, insensatez, incapacidad de hacer las cosas adecuadas. ¿De qué vale
correr como un loco, de un lado al otro, tratando de hacer lo máximo, si por
causa de la fatuidad estropeas todo lo que realizas? / Fatuity is
foolishness, inability to do the right things. What's the point of running like
a madman, from one side to the other, trying to do the most, if because of
fatuity you ruin everything you do?
Haz de
este día un día de realizaciones. No te contentes con hacer lo mejor que
puedes. Dios está siempre dispuesto a ayudarte a realizar más de lo que puedes.
La excelencia es el blanco de aquellos que aprenden a desconfiar de sus propias
fuerzas y depositan toda su confianza en Jesús. / Make this day
a day of accomplishments. Don't be content with doing the best you can. God is
always ready to help you accomplish more than you can. Excellence is the goal
of those who learn to distrust their own strength and place all their trust in
Jesus.
Que Dios
te dé un día de mucha atención y extraordinaria productividad, y no olvides:
''Al que responde palabra antes de oír, le es fatuidad y oprobio". / May God give you a day of great attention and
extraordinary productivity, and do not forget: "To answer before listening— that is folly
and shame."
